CRAK'D SATURDAYS LAUNCH PARTY 12 DEC 2009

YO,

So saturday is the first official launch party for the S.L.C boys new nighly called Crak'd saturdays and it is located at Funky Winker Beans @ 35 W HASTINGS ST Vancouver.

So I know what your thinking and yes it is in a grimey location but dont fret.. Once your inside the joint ain't so bad..

Me personally Im sick of all the dooshy, fake image hungry bullshit that comes with what I call comercial clubbing, this spot has a raw, underground real vibe to it and very little trouble comes to the venue.

Not to mention that beers are only $1.75 per glass and if you want a couple shooters they are $3.00 a pop..

S.L.C boys throw down all sorts of beats but gtend to go in the direction of Electro Breaks and mashups.

Harvey Cartel is the ledgend of Indie Nu Dance and Electronic while El DJ Loco can throw down party jams that make you go off..

What makes this saturday special is that we have 6 dj's to look forward toO.. All are very talented, sexy and above all else maniacs!!

Joe Barrs!!!! A dj from the land down under who has brought his exceptional musical sensibilities and unique performing style to the great white north and is taking it by the belts.....

This strapping steed that strums the wheels of steel like a steroidal sitar was bred from two prestigious performing arts schools in Sydney Australia where he honed his ancient skills of performing by meditating upside down atop a bamboo pole..... Here he studied Drama, singing and songwriting, however he was gradually lured into the dark and dangerous world of electronic music, clubbing, dj'ing and turntablism. The Dj fever took hold when he and a friend dj’d a house party using two tape decks and an amp like some kind of musical MacGuyver. The thrill that he got when he dropped an awesome track and the response of the crowd was one that would stay with him, and it is this feeling that he still enjoys most about Dj’ing a decade later.

Since moving to Van City he has had the pleasure of playing at various clubs the likes of Republic, Modern, The Royal and Lucy Mae Browns; as well as many bars and café’s including Subeez, locus, Joeys, Bayside Lounge and Lux by Caprice.

I asked Joe what tunes he loves to play: "Anything Party Party!! I have such a vast range of musical influences, at the moment I am really into my driving, nu age Indie Dance, and I love throwing that together with some pumping House, Breaks, jacking Electro and the occasional mashup.. Though its important to know how to read the crowd, so anything thats gonna make people happy to be out and in the club/bar"..

Joe is a performer in the very essence of word…the energy and enthusiasm with which he plays creates an excitement within the crowd, keeping people interested and getting them addicted and wanting to come back for more weeks to come.
